The Public Building Commission has been awarded grants from the USEPA Brownfields Grant Program and an award from the IEPA Brownfields Revolving Loan Fund to help fund environmental remediation activities associated with the clean-up of the parcels adjacent to the existing library at 415-423 E. 79th Street to enable future construction of a new state-of-the-art library. An information repository is available for review at the Whitney M. Young, Jr. Branch Library, 7901 S. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, Chicago, IL 60619. A public meeting to discuss and solicit comments to the repository documents was held Tuesday August 16, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Whitney Young Branch Library, 7901 S. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, Chicago, IL 60619.
