See the Stars on Astronomy Night!

It's truly amazing that you can see stars and planets that are millions of miles away with your own two eyes just by stepping outside on a clear night. President Obama is inviting astronomers, scientists and many more to an evening of stargazing at the White House Astronomy Night on Monday, October 19.

You don't have to go all the way to Washington, D.C., to celebrate Astronomy Night, just check out a telescope at the library!

CPL's Astronomy Pack with telescope lets you take home a backpack filled with stargazing resources including sky maps, a flashlight and a real telescope. If you're not ready to commit to a telescope, check out an Astronomy Pack with binoculars, which includes the same resources, plus astronomy binoculars.

Even without a telescope or binoculars, it's easy to Find the Constellations with the clear diagrams featured in this book by H.A. Rey, best known for his books about Curious George. Rey's own curiosity led him to explore the sky and help others to do so.

Some telescopes are more powerful than others. Destination: Space takes you on a tour of our universe with incredible images from the Hubble Telescope that led to many new discoveries.

Looking to the stars can inspire curiosity, wonder and friendship. In Every Soul A Star, Ally, Bree and Jack look to the sky at the Moon Shadow Campground and find something unexpected in common.

Every Soul a Star is available in multiple formats.
