James Beard Foundation Book Awards

The James Beard Foundation presents annual awards for excellence in cuisine, culinary writing and culinary education. Here are some highlights of the winners in the categories for culinary writing.

Amy Thielen took home the prize in the American Cooking category with The New Midwestern Table.

 In the Baking and Dessert race the prize went to Jacquy Pfeiffer with Martha Rose Shulman for The Art of French Pastry.

Tony Conigliaro edged out his competitors in the Beverage category with The Cocktail Lab: Unraveling the Mysteries of Flavor and Aroma in Drink, with Recipes

The honors went to Fuchsia Dunlop in the International category for Every Grain of Rice.

René Redzepi and his staff were awarded in the Photography category for the beautiful three in one collection containing 200 hundred visually stunning photographs: Rene Redzepi: A Work In Progress.

Adrian Miller’s Soul Food won in the category of Reference and Scholarship.

In the category of Vegetable Focused and Vegetarian Deborah Madison’s Vegetable Literacy won the award.

A Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, Michael Moss, was bestowed another honor. This time in the category of Writing and Literature for the much praised Salt, Sugar, Fat.
