Doctor Who: Nonfiction Picks

The 50th anniversary of Doctor Who is Saturday, November 23, and millions of fans all over the world are getting ready to celebrate. So, if you’d like to see what else we have to offer, in addition to new novels featuring the Doctor (see my earlier posts here and here), I highly recommend:

Doctor Who: This book is incredibly informative and covers everything there is to know about the new era of the show from 2005 to 2011. Besides the useful information, it’s also packed with full-color photos, illustrations, artwork and concept drawings.

The Science of Doctor Who: The author is a scientist and also a lifelong Doctor Who fan. In this book he combined these two things, and the results are very interesting. If you’ve ever wondered what contemporary science has to say about time travel, relative dimensions in space, sonic screwdrivers, cyborgs or any other science fiction concepts that appear regularly on the show, then this is a great resource for you. The book manages the tricky task of being both accessible to non-scientists, while still being genuinely engaging and informative.

My Next Post

This is my third and final Doctor Who post. Next time I’ll be talking about something else I’m obsessed with.
