Caught Reading: Chicago Public Library, April 2016

April Fools' Day, Earth Day and National Poetry Month are some of the celebrations happening in April. But did you know April 10-16 is National Library Week? National Library Week recognizes the important contributions of libraries and library staff.

Celebrate with us by stopping by your neighborhood branch to check out a good book. Don’t know what to read? No worries! The library staff is here to help you—and you might see a fellow patron engrossed in a great read.

Here’s a look at what I caught you reading this month at Garfield Ridge Branch.

You were practically on the edge of your seat with Gone Girl, a mysterious and intriguing story of love gone wrong from prolific thriller writer Gillian Flynn. The book inspired the movie of the same name.

You were also digging into memoir, reading Almost A Woman by Esmeralda Santiago. This chronicle of the author’s life continues the story started in When I Was Puerto Rican.

You were reading up on financial investments with Investing for Dummies, a comprehensive resource for beginning and experienced investors.

And you were studying your sleeping dreams as well as your financial ones—I spied you reading A Dictionary of Dream Symbols. You said you highly recommended this guide to interpreting and understanding your dreams.

Lastly, I spotted you reading Chess for Dummies, an introduction to the rules and strategies of chess. Looking for more way to improve your game? Check out The Chess Player's Bible, which features basic and advanced tactics. Or, come play with us at one of CPL's chess clubs.
